private pyle did an amazing job preparing for this role.put on 40lbs etc,the sergeant was in no way an actor he was a freshly retired drill sergeant he was picked over several pro actors and ad libbed his role.some directors have said he was perhaps the most natural talent for his role ever.iconic movie but people are way to sensitive for anything near this now

This was filmed entirely on location in the UK. Bassingbourne Barracks doubled for Paris Island, London Docklands for for the wrecked city & the Norfolk Broads for the Vietnamese countryside.

I seriously doubt that Sheriff Teasle will win the next election? He harassed a national hero, winner of the Congressional Medal Of Honor, which ended up burning down half of the town, putting many people out of business and unemployed. But hey, he did prevent that war hero from having breakfast in their quaint little town. Way to go Sheriff Teasle, you won’t even be able to win dog catcher in the next election. You can at least be sure that his career in law enforcement is over once the story hits the papers. He told Rambo that this is a quiet town and he gets paid to keep it that way. It wasn’t such a quiet town after Rambo returned, so he did really do his job.

What the sad part is is that this actually happens in real life so sad 😢

My favourite Horror film. Just purely because it touches every aspect of fear... the unknown, isolation, paranoia, aliens, gore, brutality... everything. Also 0 CGI. If it's not a puppet or make up... it's a miniature or painting/effect overlay.

If you loved this movie, you should really watch the original Halloween (1978). It was the debut of Jamie Lee Curtis, who is Janet Leigh's daughter.

I'll never forget watching this at the theater when it first came out and grown men crying and walking out to compose themselves during the first 30 minutes. Those 30 minutes, to me, is most powerful, raw, heartbreaking moments I've ever felt watching a movie. It was intense and REAL. I heard a radio interview with Peter Graves (the pilot) a couple decades after this movie came out. Some of the stuff they had him saying to the kid had him legitimately worried that it would wreck his career. He said he asked the directors "are you SURE I can get away with saying this?". They told him not to worry about it, that it would be funny as hell, and just about break the cringe meter (and they were right).
